Leadership South Sudan Federal Democratic Alliance - SSFDA
Our Chairman - Samuel Mut Gai
Chairperson and Commander-in-Chief, South Sudan Federal Democratic Alliance (SSFDA)
Samuel Mut Gai Dhap is one of the founding members and currently serves as the first Chairman and Commander-in-Chief of the South Sudan Federal Democratic Alliance (SSFDA)—a national political movement committed to uniting all South Sudanese in the struggle for a peaceful, just, and inclusive future.
A veteran of South Sudan’s long liberation struggle, Samuel is guided by a deep conviction: that the freedom for which so many sacrificed must now be reclaimed—not for the benefit of a few, but for the dignity, rights, and future of all South Sudanese.
Under his leadership, SSFDA stands for federalism, national unity, transparency, and accountability. Samuel believes that the future of South Sudan cannot be built on tribal favoritism, military patronage, or personal entitlement. Instead, it must be grounded in equality before the law, inclusive governance, and social justice.
Samuel has emerged as a disciplined and determined voice against the corruption, ethnic division, and repression that have crippled South Sudan’s institutions since independence. He consistently emphasizes that the movement’s struggle is not against any ethnic group, including the Dinka, but against the regime of President Salva Kiir and its culture of exclusion and impunity.
He champions the principle of “We” over “I”, working tirelessly to foster a new generation of leadership that listens, includes, and builds—not one that hoards, excludes, and destroys.
As Chairperson, Samuel is building SSFDA into a political platform that speaks to all corners of South Sudan—from Equatoria to Upper Nile, from Bahr el Ghazal to Greater Pibor. He believes that no region, tribe, or citizen should be left behind.
“We were never meant to liberate one tribe or one man—we fought for the dignity of every South Sudanese. That dream has not died. It is alive in SSFDA.” — Samuel Mut Gai
Samuel continues to engage with South Sudanese communities at home and in the diaspora, and with international partners, to build a broad coalition for peace, reform, and national renewal.
